Areas of Focus

Areas of Focus

Diagnostic Evaluations for Speech-Language Delays, Autism, and ADHD.

In-Services, Professional Developments, and Consultancy for Support Teams in Schools, Daycares, Private Clinics, or Independent Practices.

Our experience and training allow us to bring a discerning and thorough eye to diagnostics, and we have decided to specialize our practice to focus on evaluations for neurodevelopmental delays across the lifespan and childhood speech-language delays. We are well-versed in the administration of many different assessment tools, both standardized and criterion, and utilize a mix of published and qualitative measures in our evaluation process.

In addition to providing direct diagnostic services to clients and families, we are also available for consultations to both individuals and group entities, as well as for in-service and professional development trainings around our areas of focus, including trauma-informed principles of care and team collaboration to best benefit individuals who have these developmental delays.

Adele Dunkin
M.C.D., CCC-SLP, IMH-E®

Hi, I'm Adele! I am a late-diagnosed multiply-neurodivergent speech-language pathologist with over 10 years of experience diagnosing speech and language disorders and developmental delays, including autism. Full-time, I work as an Assistant Clinical Professor and Co-Director of Clinical Education in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Memphis. Prior to this appointment, I conducted initial diagnostic evaluations at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center's Center on Developmental Disabilities for four years, and taught a graduate course on autism at the University of Memphis as an adjunct member of the clinical faculty.

I serve on the board of the Arc of Tennessee, hold an endorsement in Infant Mental Health through AIMHiTN, and am an active member of several professional and advocacy organizations.

My passion is helping families navigate autism diagnoses and services, promoting disability rights, advocating for and educating about trauma-informed and neuroaffirming practice, and expanding accessibility of information and support.

Outside of work, I love to read, cook, and listen to a variety of podcasts. My husband, Scott, and I are also honored to raise two beautifully chaotic and multiply-neurodivergent children, along with three dogs (Molly, Bear, Sunnie) and a hamster (Sunnie the Hamster).

About Me

Hi, I'm Colby.  I received my Ph.D. In School Psychology from the University of Memphis in 2015.  I completed an APA-accredited internship with the Hawaii Psychology Internship Consortium on the beautiful island of Kauai, balanced my clinical work with snorkeling and standup paddleboarding. Returning to Memphis, I completed my postdoctoral training with both Memphis-Shelby County Schools and the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center (UTHSC).

I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Tennessee, an associate professor of behavioral sciences at Christian Brothers University, and a psychologist at the Center on Developmental Disabilities at UTHSC.  I am passionate about autism and serve on the board of directors for Students Tackling Autism-Related Syndromes.

My wife, Lauren, and I have three young children, two dogs, a cat, chickens, and fish (basically a zoo). I enjoy fishing, reading, exercising, and forecasting the weather.
